Mayor Julian Castro, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will host a breakfast welcoming U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis to San Antonio.

Secretary Solis is the first Hispanic Cabinet-level appointee to this position. Key San Antonio leaders from business, education, workforce development, and government have been invited by the U.S. Secretary of Labor.

The breakfast meeting will be a high-level discussion with these stakeholders regarding San Antonio’s growing role in economic development.

Recent job growth has been attributed to a diverse workforce and a diverse economy, which is due in part to expanding industries in the biosciences/healthcare, erospace, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, financial services, and the visitor industries.
